So the holidays are approaching, and everyone is bustling around trying to find the "perfect" gift. It is easy to get caught up in the commercialism of the holiday, and forget about the things that really matter.
Take a long look at the photograph above. What do you think that it says about our society? What is most important to you this holiday?
Finally, what could our class do to give back to our community this holiday season? I'd like to hear your ideas.
This photograph shows how we have so much & take our money for grantet when in other places people are starving, & just want food, & they're favourite thing about Christmas is spendng time with their families. The most important thing to me this holiday is spending time with my family, because since my dad goes away overseas sometimes he isn't home for Christmas. What our class could do is, start a toy drive drive for the kids, who don't have any, or do a funraiser & donate money.
ReplyDeletein this photo it shows little boys who have starved it looks like there around 4-5 and in the other one it has two women with carts and there arms full of presents for there children and family, everybody forgets about the other eople in the world who are almost starved to death..... Christmas is for giving not to get spoiled. why dont some people have the respect to send present's or even donate to those children. It takes lot of faith and respect to send or even donate toys, money , etc.. to the other side of the world so Humans can eat and kinda get the point of living. i think this year well me and my friends are in gr.8 should do a toy drive or raise money for the childern across the world . There not just people there Humans and they desrave to live and have part in the world. -Casii

And people in where ever have a thousand times less then we do and yet we still complain that we have "very little" but in fact we quite alot when there are people still staving and dying terrible,tretourus,torturous deaths. and i think of it as not fair that we have all the good weather, plenty of food, andcleandrinking water.
ReplyDeleteOur society is able to get every person something in the city because we have the money for that job. The important thing is that every kid is happy with what they get.
ReplyDeletewe could donate things to other people that have less money so then other kids can be happy on christmas to.
In the photo above the kids on the left are starving and surronding someone that's maybe giving some food or something away. On the right I see people stalking up with gifts. It looks like they probably don't support anyone from a different country. It isn't hard all you have to do is give $10 to a kid in Africa. One donation a month can give a family or kid a meal for all that month. To give back I think our class could bring in a old toy for some of the less fortunate or just do some deeds for some of the poeple around town.
ReplyDeleteIt says that our society is in better shape than most of the other societies.Witch is pretty sad.The thing that is most important to me this christmas is FAMILY, FRIENDS, and HAPPINESS.The things our class could do for our community this christmas are literally endless. If I had to choose something to do though it would be just having a good life and enjoying every bit of it.
ReplyDeleteI think this photo says about our soicety is some kids don't have anything for Christmas and they are starving. The other side photo shows that people are shopping and spending a lot of money on presents. This says that we have a lot of money that we like to spend. This holiday, the most important thing is about giving. I won't really care how much I get. What we could do to give back to the community this holiday season is go to a elderly's home and hang out with them, donate to the food bank, fund-raise to bake for the neighborhood,e.t.c
ReplyDeleteWe could fund raise money or we could ask people to bring in something that mean alot to them. We could go and help at mental home or elderly home and help around somewhere, where it needs help with. I wish we could fly to the kids and like play games with them, im sure we would all have fun with the kids ! I just wish we could do more to help those in need ! Its not just people who need help its also animals and the environment that needs help. Its so sad to look at the picture with the starving kids, just makes you wanna make a difference in life ! =) <3

What our class could do to give back to our community is we could do a car wash or a bake sale for people in out community and give the money to a charity in kingston

This photo is one of those photos that makes you think the kids on the left are starving and they arent healthy. But the people on the right are buying girfts for there kids who have everything that they want and dont think that there are somekids somewehre else in the world starving and cold with no money. not alot of people sit back and think "I should donate some money to somekids with not alot of stuff or even if people have clothe tha dont fit they can give the clothes to kids that dont have lot of clothes. The smallest thing like giving somebody an old winter caot bc it doesnt fit u anymore can make somebodys day so much brighter!!!
ReplyDeleteI think this photo says that people are needed and there are kids in the world that have nothing to play with,to eat, eat with. We all want a things for holidays i think we should give some of are toys to kids who have nothing for the holiday.I think that would make them happy and so they know people care this christmas. show you care for them and help them.

This picture also shows me that in canada we should be thankful for what we have because we could have no money for food or to get the things we need or want.I think that people shoud raise money or give somthing to the less fortunate.
